Sensors, cameras and driver-assist
Modern Teslas rely on cameras, parking sensors and driver-assist features. We take special care with them during the repair, and we check that your cameras and sensors are working properly before you get your car back, so you can drive with confidence.
Aluminum and structural repair
Teslas use aluminum and high-strength steel. We repair the structure with care and use Chief Meridian electronic measuring to check that the body is back to its correct dimensions.
PPG color match
We mix PPG paint in-house and spray it in our Garmat USA paint booth, so the repaired panels match the rest of your car, including whites, blacks and the deeper reds and blues.
Insurance and rental help
We work with all insurance companies directly, send your adjuster photos and supplements, and help set up a rental car while yours is with us. In California you have the right to choose your repair shop.

Do you repair Teslas?

What to expect at drop-off and pickup
From the repair authorization you sign at the shop.
You sign a repair authorization
At drop-off you sign our repair authorization. It lets us make the agreed repairs, road-test the car, and accept insurance checks for your repair on your behalf.
Payment at pickup
Payment is due when the car is released, including any supplemental damage charges. Deductibles are paid to Chavez Auto Body.
Ways to pay
For amounts over $500: insurance draft or check, cash, credit card, money order or cashier's check. Two-party checks must be endorsed by everyone named, including lienholders.
Timing
We give you an estimated completion date. It can change if we find hidden damage or parts are delayed, and we call you if it does.
Pick up within 3 days
Cars not picked up within 3 days of completion are charged a $50 per day storage fee.
Old parts and belongings
Replaced parts are discarded unless you ask us to keep them. Please take valuables out of the car. We are not responsible for items left inside.

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to use the shop my insurance company recommends?
No. In California your insurer cannot require you to use a specific repair shop (Insurance Code §758.5). You can choose Chavez Auto Body and we will work with your insurance company directly.
Do you work with my insurance company?
Yes. We work with all insurance companies directly. We help with the claim paperwork and keep you updated.
Are estimates free?
Yes. Estimates are free for major and minor repairs. We look over your car in person at the shop and go over the repair with you before any work starts. Photos you send ahead just help us get ready.
Can you give me a price over the phone or from photos?
To give you an accurate number, we need to see the car. Leave your name and number (or call us) and we will set up a quick, free visit at the shop.
How long will my repair take?
After we write your estimate, we give you an estimate of the repair time. If anything changes, we call you.
Can you help me get a rental car?
Yes. We can help you arrange a rental with Hertz or Enterprise, and we can give you a ride home or to work when you drop off your car.
What if I am paying myself, without insurance?
That is fine. We are honest about what is worth repairing and can suggest money-saving options. Insurance or out-of-pocket, we handle both. Just pick "Paying myself" on the form.
